    What’s wrong with Mary’s legs???

She mentions gravity, and that her legs have no fuel, unable to use proteins day after day.

    Why are they so swollen???

It’s an overuse thing. When Lee Craigie and Rickie Cotter did the Tour Divide Lee had to take a day out due to her legs swelling. Sausage legs is the medical term I think.

I’m not sure what causes it, but it does seem to affect people spending many hours back to back on the bike – might be more females than males suffer?

Yea, I was wondering if anyone knew a medical diagnosis of the cause.

Happened to Steve Moat who I rode with in the 2019 race. He was pushing hard early and I’m convinced his body said “no” as a result.

I believe it’s Edema. I’ve had it a few times, although never to that level. Pretty common for long distance runners and cyclists, and pregnant women.
