    Hi all,

    I’ve just got back from a big road ride – well big by my standards 😆

    So my question; if your intended route involved a big hill (again by my standards) would you place it;

    1) In the middle of the ride – so your legs would get plenty of blood flow during the rest of the ride to help them recover.

    2) Toward the end – so you would get home quicker and give your legs a rest.

    Opinions please 😛

    How big is big?

    Jacobs Ladder, 3 big hills (compared to Lincoln!), one at the start, one at the end… and one in the middle!

    Big road climb for me, it’s called Fish Hill in Warwickshire.

    It’s about 2 miles long and it climbs 600ft up to Broadway Tower.

    Don’t really let that sort of thing effect the route. In terms of the hills I’m more bothered about doing the hills in the right direction to get the better descents.

    Don’t have much choice. Every route from home is big hills or bigger hills.

    My short loop starts with a 7 mile, 1600ft climb up to princetown.

    Big climbs normally come in the middle for me as it takes me a few miles to find any. No deliberate placement for me.

    If you are hoping to Strava it then put it in the middle. If you are training put it at the end. If you are training hard put it at the beginning, middle and end 😉
