  • Replacement android tablet for OAP?

    Hello all,
I’m looking to purchase a tablet for my nan, I’m not well up on tablets though pretty well up on PC’s and android phones.

It’s use is just going to be radio streaming app, bit of browsing, puzzle games etc. So doesn’t need any graphics horsepower to speak of.

Her outgoing tablet is an old Samsung (I forget the model) but it’s really slow and clunky even when switching between apps and just doing general operations.

Any advice greatly recived, I’d rather buy one from CCL here https://m.cclonline.com/category/112/Tablets/

As I’m also making an order from there for a new PC and a monitor for her so will be easier to order the lot from one place in one order, as I don’t live that close to her, I’ll have it all shipped to her house and then go round and configure it all.

No set budjet, I’d guess a hundred or 200 quid? Just needs to be responsive and fast for undemanding day to day activities.

Also her eyes aren’t great so don’t need crazy high screen resolution.

    Cheers!

Samsung Tab A (2019) £198 ideal for what she will use it for.
I’d recommend a Huawei Mediapad M3 lite as I used to have one before getting a IPad Pro. Screen was good and it was fast enough. However it will not get another Android update.

The Huawei Mediapad tablets are decent. Something like the T5 or M5 Lite. They already have Android 9, so should keep on working fine for a few years, even if they don’t get any updates.

CCL looks a bit expensive, and mostly older models. Could get them for about £50 less at Argos or Currys.

Hmm OK maybe I’ll buy the tablet elsewhere then, the Samsung tab A looks OK if the 2gb ram is enough?

Trying to keep budget under £200 but can stretch a bit if there is a tangible benefit, thanks for the suggestions so far.

Both cheaper on Argos. Samsung is the nicer device, USB C also. One Ui is pretty slick.
My other half has the M5 lite and it performs well, she uses it for Netflix and internet browsing and random games, no slow down.

But I find Samsung One Ui slicker than Emui on Huawei.

Galaxy Tab A from John Lewis is £149:

Just be aware that prices might increase after Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

Probably put an order in tonight, so if the Samsung tab A is OK, might go for that, not adverse to Huawei though if that’s better
