So, the old man has been obsessed with researching the family tree for years now. He is doing a pretty good job of it too, using all the usual online sites.

What became apparent this weekend, when he visited is that his anecdotes, recollections and memories (and those of family of his age) are far more interesting – but fleeting – than the stuff that happened back in the 1500s.

I’d love to record some of it, as it will be gone without trace soon.

    Been through anything like this?

Any advice on how to record it, what to use, stage interviews without it becoming a ramble, how to edit it into a cohesive form?

    Thanks in advance. M

My kids did it with their grandparents, just interviewed them & videoed it

The rambling is part of the charm IMO
