Booked a week off next month.

Me and the dog are going for a mooch. No bikes. I’ll be in my T4 so I need showers etc! I’ve had a look on uk campsite etc but thought I’d ask the hive mind.

I want in no particular order

Smallish site so no big statics
Pub/village in walking distance for beverage and sustenance

    I’d love
    Coastal
    And fires.

I’m not set on an area and fancy argyll again but I’m even tempted with islay.

If I don’t come up with anything I’ll probably wind up in gairloch again getting fatter eating cheesey scones at the mountain cafe co!

    Dog for effect..

Are you specifically talking about Scotland or are other areas in scope?

    Oooh nice!

That’s the job. Tempted to do islay as well so may split it 50/50

    Or just not risk Calmac…

Their winter schedule ends in October but they haven’t published the new one yet

Lane foot near keswick. Equidistant between keswick and whinlatter. Really laid back attitude and a pub 10 minute walk away too.

Cool camping is a great website for finding what you want.

Go all the way up to Sango Sands at Durness and take advantage of it being the off season, plus the fact you’re not looking for MTB terrain?

Eskdale National Trust in Boot is exceptional.
Great setting and staff, quiet out of season.

Sooo much walking to go at, very quiet on the fells.
You can walk to the coast and get the steam train back!

Three nice places to eat, two of which are next door.

I’m currently on Lewis, booked on tomorrow afternoons ferry. Ferries today were cancelled. Ferry tomorrow morning already cancelled…

    Swell.

The CalMac timetable will be published soon as us islanders need to make plans – they’re having to re-jig it because they’re no longer closing Uig pier for 6 months plus planning to redirect the Isle of Mull to Uig for 6 months leaving us with half our winter service.

There are dozens of nicer places you’d drive past on the way to Durness, plus not on the NC500 which attracts it’s own kind of ‘special’ drivers.

Not set anywhere, I’m sw Scotland as it is. So was thinking of even doing Arran to Campbeltown then onto the west side of argyll. Issue is finding a campsite I like.

I’ve done alot on the north coast before it was ruined.

Lakes without a bike I’d be depressed. Lane foots a nice site granted with a couple of good pubs.

Again considering Aberdeenshire as its a lovely coast line. Was even mulling helmsdale/Dunbeath but thats a drive n half for me!

Or the other option is no planning and wing it. But I’ll wind up somewhere I know.

    Islay on Sunday!

It’s not beautiful but the campsite in Port Charlotte has good facilities.
