As above really. Need to order 2, maybe 3, and £63 each for case and mount seems just a touch excessive. What are you guys using? Thanks in advance

    Is this still a thing?

I’ve been using a “garmin phone mount” of eBay for years. Less than £4.00 – bargin

@MoreCashThanDash, 🤣🤣, purely for exploration and navigational purposes of a cycling variety

I got a stick on Garmin adapter off eBay, came with a headcap Garmin mount from China for about a fiver.

Just needs a plastic case for your phone then.

Total cost – basicly free if you already have a plastic phone cover and need a Garmin mount anyway.

How sticky are these garmin mounts? Are they trustworthy enough to keep recent new phone paranoia at bay?

I use the Thule Smartphone Bike Mount. Never let me down but it can rattle a bit. Not sure about 35mm bars though. I only use the rubber stretchy “reserve chute” if it’s going to get rattled about.
I’ll be using it tomorrow to navigate around Anglesey.

I’ve got one that looks very much like this one on Amazon. Lamicall Bike Phone Mount.

It’s not going to win any awards for its look, but it’s rock solid and quick to lock your phone in and to release it.

I previously used the Topeak omni mount for a while. While it’s a much neater look, I tend to stop to take snaps with my phone quite often and found releasing the phone from the silicon bands around the corners of the phone, and fitting it without inadvertently putting them over one of the buttons was a faff. If you’ve got a phone that Topeak support with a dedicated case, I guess it would work much better. But the range is limited.

The cheap Amazon one is much easier to use.

Very. I’ve got one stuck on my previous phone to use with zwift, and for maps whilst out and about. It just connects to my current phone for data. I’d not fancy the additional bulk on my normal phone though.

I used this system for bike and motorbike.

It was better suited to my rally dash on my motorbike than the quadlock as there wasn’t space to turn the phone to fit.

Had some impressive motorbike stacks without wrecking my phone, but cracked the screen riding with it on an MTB – more exposed, so i use a Wahoo and keep my phone in a pouch now.

I’ve got a few of these eBay ones and while they’ve never come off I still remove phone when things get rowdy.

Plus one for a cheap stick on garnin mount. Very secure, not massively noticeable when not on your bike.

Just make sure your case holds your phone securely.

I use the same style of silicone one @fooman linked to, but with the built-in silicone strap cut off and just a hypalon strap through the remainder – can get it much tighter on the bar, which I wrap with self-amalgamating tape.

Although the silicone ones aren’t as stable as the solid ones, I don’t think that’s a bad thing since you protect your phone from the harsher hits. Would quite happily take mine down a trail centre black or equivalent, just don’t don’t try and read the map while you’re doing it 😉

Mine came with 3M VHB tape applied to it (the stuff that comes on go-pro mounts), no idea if it’s genuine but I suspect it would pull the back off the phone before the glue gave up. And the garmin mount is as good as any (I think technically its the garmin compatible generic/wahoo/bkool version).

I looked at these recently, I went for a lezyne smart phone toptube thingy in the end. It allowed me to connect a power bank to the phone as the battery life on my iphone is pretty dismal. With the power bank I could navigate for 4 hours without worrying about the phone packing up.
For me though it is a one off thing as mostly I’m following others. The only issues I had, is my poor eyesight and bright sunshine. I could hardly see the screen.

Been using a Decathlon one for a couple of years….

900 L Waterproof Bike Smartphone Holder Triban – Decathlon

Good protection but touch- screen ability is just ok….I tend to leave screen on with OS maps app running which, with a G7 Power, still lasts all day
