Looking for some inspiration for off the beaten path hikes in the LD.

I like varied terrain, forests and valleys as well as mountain summits and lakes.

Already done: everything round Grasmere, Langdale Pikes, Scarth Gap to Red Pike Ridge, Helvellyn x 3, Coniston Coppermines, Ennerdale: red pike and Pillar.

Considering Scafell Pike from Borrowdle via the corridor route but it looks a bit barren and bleak from the pics and aerial shots. Worth considering?

No more than about 10 miles with max 3k feet of ascent, or something around there. Think more 3/4s of a day out.

    Recommend me up! Ta

Scafell from Borrowdale is a great day out, but it might be pushing your 3/4s of a day requirement.

Also starting from Borrowdale how about Glaramara by Cam Crag ridge scramble (from Langstrath) then carry on over Allen Crags then down Grains Gill to Seathwaite returning to Rosthwaite by the fp on the east side of Seathwaite valley? much quieter than the main honeypots, and a good mix of high fell and valleys.

Kentmere Horseshoe, High Street from various directions , for 3/4 day from top of the Kirkstone pass.

Scafell from Eskdale, Pillar form Ennerdale.

I like the coniston area as pretty quiet even on weekends, so combine coniston with neighbouring fells.  I did coniston, swirl and wetherlam on Sunday, 5 hours, early start, saw about 10 people in total.  Sunny day at the bottom, wind chill on tops was ferocious, had to use socks as gloves to improvise.

Depends where you are coming from, but coniston I avoid the main tourist hub.

Another vote for scarfell or scarfell pike from eskdale. Park at jubilee bridge car park, walk up river esk to great moss head up towards mickledore, up scarfell by fox tarn or some other route. Or up scarfell pike from mickledore. Don’t try and descend scarfell directly to mickledore (broad stand), it’s an accident black spot. You could work out a decent back from scarfell on long green, horn crag etc back to jubilee bridge.

Yewbarrow return along wast water, Fairfield circuit from Rydal, some sort of blencathera circuit ie from threlkeld along bottom thru fields and across streams round to scales tarn , up a ridge sharp edge or the other , back down halls fell ridge to threlkeld

seems to be an absence of far eastern fells in the OP which are some of the quietest fells

what about park at haweswater head and up the Rigg and then Rough Crag (amazing ridgeline with view of blea water) up to High st summit then round to Mardale ill bell, and either descend back to car park via Nan bield pass and small water or go up Harter feel and descend Gatescarth pass

or head other way from High st and go round high raise, law raise, kidsty pike way

or park near hardnott pass and approach Scafell from Slight side (for an out and back although can work in a loop I guess)

or eskdale, walk through Mitredale forest for an ascent of the Wastwater fells

or a walk around the forest and then Harter Fell (eskdale) in duddon valley

As an aside, I was going to go and walk the High stile ridge today but my dodgy knee led to me cancelling so sat at work.

I don’t disgaree with anything above

St Sunday crag as a horseshoe from Patterdale, this takes in Fair Field

Coniston Old Man via Goats Water, coud carry on to Wetherlam

A circuit of Mosedale from Wasdale Head. Also Great Gable form there

Cold Pike, Crinckle Crags and Bowfell from Langdale
