- Recommend me a Hilton
I’ve got enough points for a two night stay in I think any Hilton, so I am going to try and offload the kids for a long weekend in Feb.
Anyone got any tips for a nice Hilton in which to spend a luxury kid-free weekend? Ironically, the Cardiff one is nice and in the centre of a nice town but we live here so that’s out 🙂
London is an obvious choice, but are any of the other city locations nice?
Posted 5 years agoParis is nice enough, close by the Blackpool Tower replica.
Posted 5 years agoI have been staying here over the past few weeks. There’s plenty to do in Edinburgh and the hotel is smart too. Which makes a nice change from most of the other Hiltons that I have stayed in.
Posted 5 years agoSpending the weekend in Paris Hilton? Not sure that’s great for the other half..
Posted 5 years agoI just looked at Paris. Not bad, but we aren’t that keen on Paris as a city due to past tribulations, but it might work.
Some other foreign location could be good – jsut checking flights for Stockholm. Don’t have much cash though hence the Hilton requirement.
Posted 5 years agoNot city but Colyumbridge or craigendarroch would be my choice 🙂 only if they have sorted the pool at craigendarroch though , i tried to book there at end of summer and it was broked
Posted 5 years agoHmm, I see there is one in the Cairngorms.. hmm..
EDIT trail_rat – simultaneous posts 🙂
Hopefully would catch a bit of snow up there in Feb, which we do like.
Posted 5 years agoBrighton Hilton is on the sea front which is nice. We’ve been there a couple of times and I can advise NOT taking a VW Transporter into the underground car park.
Posted 5 years agoWhen I use to travel/hotel loads, the last thing I’d ever want to do is do either in my own time…
Stratford-upon-Avon/Warwick?
Don’t have much cash though hence the Hilton requirement.
Yer, right…
Posted 5 years agoIf your going book now….. It will be busy. If your staying on points youll be mr bumped if they over book

Yer, right
I accumulated points when travelling for work, so the hotel will be free.
Cairngorm ones busy in Feb, I can imagine. Possibly not others though..?
Posted 5 years agoThats what i meant . Cairngorm will be rammed if the snow comes as promised
Posted 5 years agoIf money is tight just go somewhere nearby. We offloaded the kids and went to the Hilton in Wokingham last year as a birthday treat. It’s 10 miles from our house but just being able to wander up the road for a drink and a meal then get a proper nights sleep was fantastic.
Posted 5 years agoThere’s a chance we could just stay in the Cardiff one, that’s not that bad an idea, but we can afford diesel for a couple of hours drive. Only thing is, the kids have to be taken to Shropshire to my folks, so somewhere north would be convenient.
Posted 5 years agoManchester has two Hiltons, both are really quite nice.
Posted 5 years agoPresumably you are a gold or platinum hhonors member?
If you are then you’ll be wanting one with an exec lounge, so you can drink and eat for free too.
Manchester Deansgate, Glasgow or Newcastle would be my choices.
Posted 5 years agoHmm, Manchester could work.
As for gold membership – not sure if I will be by then or not. I’m almost there.
Posted 5 years agogalway?

Moi – I’m loverly! Where are we going?
Mrs Grips wants to know if you’re cute.
Posted 5 years agoBlackpool? Really?
No. Really no, it’s a genuinely horrible place*.
I’m not cute, I’m dashing. At least that’s what mother tells me.
I’ve also got a GSOH, but not everyone seems to get it 😉
*No offence meant to any of BP’s occupants, but you probly should move.
Posted 5 years agoSo can you get me a discount at the hotels?
Posted 5 years agoThe Doubletree (part of the hilton group and I guess you can spend your points there) Chester is very nice and not too far from Shropshire.
Posted 5 years agoDunkeld House Hotel, lovely setting and great biking.
