i have booked myself a place on the Thetford Winter Series First round. I will be using my classic 2003 Rockhopper, but if i get the bug i will be looking at getting a new bike.

So please advise on what to go for?

Are you mechanically able? If so, I would buy a On-One whippet frame, and build it up yourself. Using a mix of new and second hand parts, you could get a super light race bike, specced exactly as you want.

If your budget is a little tighter, there are plenty of good race bikes popping up in the classifieds.

Yes i do build my own bikes, mainly ponse about with gnarly stuff. Very new to mtb racing though.
