My mate has £3k to spend on 4″ travel bike, on 0% finance. What would you suggest.

So, your mate doesn’t actually have £3k to spend??

Sorry that came across a bit grumpy. There will be quite a number of good to brilliant 4″ travel bikes for £3k.

Check out your local bike shops and see what they stock, cos at £3k you want to know you’ve got a local stockist should you ever need to get a warranty claim sorted.

Then decide what sort of 4″ travel bike you want – some will be more XC some more trailie.

Then disgregard that bit and ride every 4″ travel bike that you can get locally.

Main stream will generally be cheaper for what you get, but at £3k no you’re not really buying a mainstram bike even if you go to Specialised or Trek.

Above all buy from a shop you are happy with – and don’t buy from a shop 300 miles away because they are the only ones who do that brand. All bikes and all brands occasionally suffer manufacturing defects etc. – a £3k with a cracked frame needs a bike shop where they recognise you when you walk in.

But others will tell you different.

Hey, I was just going to say the Anthem X would be top of my list to try out!

If he really needs to spunk the whole £3k, the zero will have Crossmax and carbon bits and be under 23lb probably.

Yeah the Zero does have the adition of Sid worldcups, and crossmax amongst other bling bits, but retails at £3500 so might be a bit out of budget. And comes in at 22.5 lbs ish.

Oops, I should have checked that.

Old Anthem Zero was £3k, but more than .5lb heavier too.

£500 for .5lb less is pretty good value at that level I reckon!

    I’d buy the X1 myself.

Yeah id buy the X1 aswell, is the one weve sold most of in the shop, especially now that shimano prices have increased so much. Makes it even better value than it already was!

You could have my ’08 Giant Trance X0 for £1000 cash if you collect….. it’s a large though

Buy speaker2animals Intense Spider. I don’t know the bloke but I have raced one for a while now, built to 24lbs with tough wheels and fork combo (so could be lower weight). It is so fast uphill and very stable on the downs. Simple DIY pivot maintenance aaswell.
