Can anyone recommend a tool to chuck in the pack for removing ticks?

Gentle circular motion for about 20 to 30 seconds and it lets go, used this method on myself and the dog, never failed yet.

The o’tom ones work very well. I’ve got 2 spaniels who pick up loads at this time of the year. Always take them off clean and not leave anything in the skin.

First year with our pup and its something that never worried me before but he goes running off throught he long grass in the fields so I can imagine its only a matter of time.

Current medical advice is to avoid ‘twisting’, or anything that stresses the tick and causes it to try and extract itself from you – that’s when it regurgitates some of it’s gut contents or saliva, which is what carries Lymes Disease and other nasties.

A straight pull with needle nosed tweezers, making sure you get the head out completely. I use the Lifesystems tick tweezers – got multiple sets in various places.

I know two victims,it has seriously messed up their life (slow diagnosis) .

I have had no sucess with the o’tom tool on small ticks which I was keen to remove before they became big fat ticks. I may invest in some of those tweezers for the next one.
