Something nicely still about Cardinal (I watched it during the peak torpor of lockdown number 1) – but…. keep your eyes pealed. Theres one of the best one-take action sequences you’ll ever see (or just as easily miss) on telly.
@maccruiskeen – was that S1E6 culminating when he jumps in the van?
Started watching Cardinal at the weekend and finished S1 last night. Really liking it – suitably low key, bit of tension and a bit dark. Also, his partner doing the hunt in high heels. Totally impractical, but… fffffeerrrrrrrrr
New series called “Angel of Death” on WalterPresents/All4 and seems promising. Lead detective was also seen in “The Border”, a very good Polish series. One or two body parts scattered around in the woods so be careful out there.

Can’t say I loved it, even though we’ve visited the area a bit – it edged a bit into torture porn in places, and the constant grey lens filter was a bit much. But it wasn’t bad, and agreed on the partner; she was also a bit less mopey and monosyllabic than Cardinal himself!
Enjoyed “Angel of Death” on Channel 4 and wouldn’t be surprised if the ending was deliberately left somewhat open for a further series to follow. Must say that the little town featured looked very attractive with interesting buildings.
Just blitzed my way through a new 8 parter on WalterPresents/All4 namely “Outlier”. Set in Northern Norway and begins with the wonderfully attired Sami and their reindeer. Wasn’t bad, easy to watch too.
Starting tonight, also from WalterPresents, is “Dark Woods” which is a new German series.
Have started a good few new series but some are simply grim (looking at you “Wasteland” from Czechia) or do not hold my attention cos I’m not easily pleased. Still, there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming year.
Good afternoon sofa dwellers. Some great news with series 4 of “Cardinal” starting tomorrow on Acorn TV, all previous series are available to watch there too.
Acorn TV is a streaming service and is offering a 7 day free trial otherwise it’s £4.99 per month, cheaper for one year.
There’s also been some good drama on WalterPresents, in my previous post is mentioned “Dark Woods” and that held my attention. “The Crimson Rivers” has returned for a third series that unfortunately consists of only 4 episodes.
