Recognise this (iconic rock) climb?
Saw this story today about Jonathan Conville’s body being found. Glad his family can lay him to rest appropriately.
The photo of the rock pitch was an iconic picture in my youth. Can anyone remember the route – the rock bulge is the giveaway. I think it was either Raven Crag area in Langdale or Snowdonia.
Does anyone recognise the route?Posted 4 years agojamieaMember
I don’t recognise the route, but I’m glad the family have a chance to bury / scatter his ashes as they see fit.
I’m grateful to the family, and the trust they established in his honour, as I had a great 3 days in the Cairngorms a few years ago on an introductory winter skills course.

Nothing that looks like it in Hard Rock. I’ve already checked…I thought the very top of Damnation on Styx, but is that too far to the right? Cavalry Crag Buttress seems to be the best-positioned in terms of height and aspect.
The pic is most likely taken either from the top, a ledge near the top, or a belay point.Posted 4 years ago
