Now if i bought say a x10 mech would I be able to run this on my current 3×9 set up until I convert to enable me to continue riding without buying a x9 replacement for the time being. I hope this isn’t too much of a dumb question to ask. Posted 4 years ago ReluctantMember Strictly speaking ~ no, you can’t do it. A nine shifter won’t work with a ten mech. Best bet would be to buy a cheap used mech off the classified as a stop gap for a few months. Posted 4 years ago asterixMember A road 9 shifter will work a road 10 mech. OP didn’t say what he was riding did he? Posted 4 years ago sambalawsMember http://www.evanscycles.com/buying-guides/derailleurs Sorry to bump my own thread but I was reading through this and from what I can gather Evans seems to think you can do it. And yes it is a mountain bike not a roadie. Posted 4 years ago Viewing 4 posts - 1 through 4 (of 4 total) The topic ‘Rear mech question’ is closed to new replies.
