I would’ve thought there would be loads of parents out there wanting to minimise damage to their kids if/when they inevitably take a tumble on the trails, but I’m really struggling to find anything!

I’m trying to find suitable knee and elbow pads for my three kids as they are getting increasingly adventurous on the trails and I’m keen to encourage them. Boys of 8 & 10 and a girl of 13, but they’re all relatively similar in dimension of forearm (7″), bicep (9″), calf (11″) and thigh (15″). I can find plenty of junior stuff which would be a bit too big for them, and plenty of Dora the Explorer type toddler stuff, but there seems to be a real gap in this size, which has me completely puzzled!

As there are three of them, I’d rather keep to around £40 per set, especially as the fact they’re all about the same size means the little buggers will doubtless all have simultaneous growth spurts in a couple of months and I won’t be able to trickle them down from eldest to youngest!

Any suggestions gratefully recieved, and if anyone fancies a bonus challenge, if you see any men’s knee pads which will fit a 16″ calf and a 24″ thigh, I’d also be interested. Everything I’ve looked at so far seems to place these about two sizes apart!

Have a look at the fox peewee range. I got some for my daughter and they are brilliant. Proper adult quality pads. Saved her a few times at the bmx park.

two things I learned, motocross armour is a good option but not always great for pedalling (ok of elbow), full size elbow pads can sometimes work well as kids knee pads.

Decathlon have skater elbow and knee pads in a wide range of sizes. They are supplied in drawstring mesh bags, so you can try before you buy.

Lots of cheap BMX style ones, my lad has done long (15k) spins in these no bother

661 do kids stuff. I have a set of elbow and knee pads which my 10 yo used once before she decided not to like MTBing, if you’re interested in buying it. I’d need to check sizes though. There is also a pink kids camelbak.

My 10 year old uses the g form ones in adult XS for knees and the troy lee 5500 xs for elbows, expensive but very good and his little brother can use them when he gets big enough, so worth the extra money in the long run.
