I blatant begging post I’m afraid.

A mixed group of 15 of us are doing our own take on the C2C this bank holiday weekend to raise funds for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington. It was the idea of a friend who had terminal breast cancer. Sadly she won’t get to see the event as she died at the hospice a couple of weeks ago.

She was a paramedic and a proper fighter – she fought the cancer for 4 years – it was in her bones (spine, skull, limbs etc), liver, lungs, brain and somehow her pure will to live and bravery kept her going right to the end. She lived with incredible pain but never showed it and just on with life with a smile. An inspirational lady.

We originally intended to raise £2000 but we’ve already smashed that. It costs £10,000 per day to fund the terrific work at the hospice. Any donations greatly appreciated.

I’ll never forget her funeral. I reckon half the paramedics and ambulance crews in the North East were there to see her off in style. They lined the church path and escorted her in to the church. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just typing it.

    Condolences.
Sounds like a good cause. I will chip in when I get home.
