- Race Fuelling – Savoury alternatives?
I’m starting to get a bit concerned at the amount of sugary crap I’m eating when training and racing. I dread to think what it’s doing to my already not great teeth plus it gets sticky and tastes sickly.
I currently do Torq drink, a gel an hour, flapjack or similar plus jelly babies.
Are there any savoury alternatives or less sugary/sticky bits. The jelly babies get pretty ropy after 6hrs in a sweaty jersey.Posted 4 years agocbmotorsportMember
Peant butter is a good shout, calorific and tasty.
Dr Kargs biscuits are good, you can break them up into manageable pieces. The pumpkin seed and emmental ones are lovely. You can get them in most supermarkets.
Nuts instead of Jelly Babies, probably more energy weight for weight. Cashews/brazils/macadamia/salted almondsPosted 4 years agoThe Swedish ChefMember
Sponser do a savoury gel, it works very very well in warm conditions.
