    I’m rooting around my parts box to get together a hack bike for winter and have a mismatch of kit.
    Will a shimano 9 spidered mech work on an 8 speed bike?

    As above ^^^ it’ll be fine, a lot of cheaper bikes with 8 speed drive trains come with a 9 rear mech to show off with,
