Heading down to Poole and going to take a bike, ferry over or ride around to Purbeck. I’ve got a couple of routes and STW guide for inspiration.

Should I take short travel trail or gravel bike? Gravel looks the more appropriate?

I’ve done the Dorset Gravel Dash on both types of bike.

There’s a few bits where the FS would be more fun, but you’ll get around more on the gravel bike, there might be a few bits where you’re mincing rather than smashing 🙂

Personally I love both my 180/160F/S & 150mm hard tail over the Purbecks, but I don’t ride gravel, there’s a lot of big fast rocky descents if you know where to look.

Hmm, that’s not made the choice any easier!

Ok, so anybody about for a pedal Thursday or Friday daytime?

Rides I’ve done over there, hardtail would be best. Just the bit off the ferry is a bit tedious and would be improved by a gravel bike, rest of it you wanna be able to smash 😀
