There’s a public enquiry to be held in March regarding the dualling of a section of the A9 around Aviemore. Amongst the things to be considered is the provision/alignment of a cycle lane/route. I’m tempted to go along but I’ve never attended a PE. Are these things likely to be interesting? The schedule allows for 5 days, though they reckon it’ll not run that long. I might pop along on day 1 and see what’s being said and how much cognisance has been taken of the community input so far.

Having been to a couple of 1-day charrettes before for some local planning issues, I’d say go.

Much as some is dry process, I found the local representation to be skewed to a few individuals who were pushing particular agendas. The civil servants and planning consultants found it challenging to ask the questions or simply clans challenge statements that were being made as fact.
