Our home wifi seems pretty bad this last couple of days. (TalkTalk as a legacy customer of AOL.) I think it’s down to DNS issues, so if you could point me at a good one to use as an alternative, that mght fix it for me. Is there a good way to test DNS problems?

I’ve stuck with the old provider as they have always been reliable, but if TalkTalk are starting to mess up, I think I’ll be jumping to Virgin cable pretty soon.

    Thanks.

    OpenDNS (who I use) or Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)

As above. The magic 8.8.8.8 solves all sorts of problems
it also lets google collect even more info on you if you care about that sort of thing

Ping a name, ping an IP, compare and contrast.

Cheers all, 8.8.8.8 seems to have cleared the problem.
