  • PSA – steel Raceface cinch chainrings

    £7.99 each at Wiggle/CRC in 30t and 32t.

They are nominally non-boost, but I’m running one with a boost setup and it works fine 👍

These last for ages, at least 3 times the RF alu ones.

Timely as I need one for my trail bike and a spare is always handy as I use the same ring on both bikes.

The steel rings aren’t Boost/Non-boost according to RaceFace, or weren’t when I bought mine originally. Their offset is halfway between the two, so 3mm further out for standard and 3mm inboard for boost. Highest use one is on it’s 4th chain and starting to look pretty thin, would easily have used up 4+ alloy ones in that time!

I’ve just been reminded why I don’t use Chain Reaction or Wiggle anymore: they ship using Evri.

Had an email saying it’s been delivered but no sign of the parcel, go home and had a card saying they had left it with no.25. They don’t have it. The picture on the email shows a random door in my block of flats with no number visible, there’s nearly 200 flats and they’re all identical.

    FFS 😡

Our local Evri driver is very good (to give some balance) if not one’s in, he goes through the garden gate and puts the parcel under the table on the back patio.

Unfortunately, the delivery is only as good as the person delivering.

The guy from number 29 just dropped it round, worryingly still in his pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers 😂

A few times in the past I’ve bribed Evri drivers with promise of cake in the delivery instructions field. I forgot to put the cake in the shed once though (sorry!), parcel still left there and they didn’t take a dump in my shed either.

Slight hijack but has anyone had issues with cinch rings loosening?  I’m going to get some loctite next but had to take mine off and retighten twice now which is annoying!

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Not since I tighten it by putting the tool in a vice to tighten it – lots more leverage 😁</p>

Ha right…. I think a more brute force approach is needed.

I used to when I first got the bike, even done up to the correct torque. I now use a dab of threadlock.
