It was a nice bit in that Observer article ,about him handing over his first finds to the farmer.

Can’t wait for more Simon and Garfunkel face offs 🙂

Great program – bought my daughter A detector after watching it. 2 hours on a beach we found one rusty nail.

Just caught up with series one on the Iplayer – some of the best writing I’ve seen in a long time. Gentle, but with enough zest and humour to make it a joy to watch.

Just as good as the last series. Love it.

Finished series 1 on the iPlayer last night.

Bishop : They remind me of something.
    Sophie : Simon and Garfunkel?
    Bishop : No, Arseholes.

    Just utterly brilliant.
Simple, effective, very funny, subtle, exceptional writing.

It went too quickly, no sooner had I turned the TV on to watch it than it was over, felt like 10mins 😐

That’s how good this programme is.

Superb. I was worried that the 2nd series may not be as good as the first, but on last night’s show it certainly is.

Excellent I have it on series link. I shall be watching sunday night with a selection of ales from our new Aldi.

I too feared it wouldn’t be as good, and it wasn’t quite as good. Given that, I’d happily have watched the next five episodes back to back because when the new characters, situations and story strands get up and running it’s going to be wonderful telly. (I recently watched all of series 1 back to back on a long flight and it was the shortest three hours of the entire journey.)

I think it’s manoeuvring for a third or fourth series whereas I was expecting a six episode resolution to the Bishop’s Farm story. Which is why I’m not a writer / film maker I guess!

Pearce Quigley (Russell) is still stealing every scene he’s in, Sheila still as fantastically bonkers, and Varde just as silent. And far and away the best theme tune of any TV series ever. It fits perfectly, and gives me goosebumps.

    Can’t wait for next week.

So what is the German bloke really up to?

I thought the first one this series was a bit slow, but last nights was as good as any of the last series IMV.

    Love it.

PS: Agree re Russell. If you read his lines on paper they’d look crap but he makes the role utterly compeling.

Nothing to do with detectorists (well, tenuous link via simon & garfunkel character), the second series of yonderland is on the sky catchup service.

They do go so quickly don’t they. No sooner you settle into the theme tune than the credits roll up.
    Fine writing and exceptional acting.
Drawn in hook line and sinker.

If the German bloke upsets Sophie I will be very angry with him.

I reckon Lance’s daughter might end up running away with the German.

I’d never heard of the program until this thread.

Jumped straight in with season 2 and am now up to date. Brilliant stuff.

The episodes really do fly by.

    Roll on ep5.

Wow – this looks even better on a big HD telly! Was watching on a tablet before – doesn’t really showcase the lovely filming.

Why can’t I find season one on iplayer?

It seems to not be on I player, but I found it on daily motion. The episodes are ordered wrong, which is a bit confusing…
