So I have a question if anyone knows the answer. Are the gear ratios limited so everyone has the same ratio?

one step too far (sadly) for Joe Public judging from my cursory study.

We have a tv in the works canteen and as the office cycling expert (ie the bloke who’s commuted occasionally on a bike) I’ve managed to get the multitude interested by the TdF / road race, and positively enthralled by the track – with several staying on last night to see Vic and Sir Chris.

But the BMX – personally I can see the sublime handling skills and huge sprint abilities, but to the untrained eye it’s just ‘grown ups on kids bikes’ and has elicited more in the way of laughter than support so far.

What will it take for the average watcher to see it as a serious race?
