14:58 – Mike Henson – But how do they work out the running order for the time trial you may well ask? Surely Great Britain’s Shanaze Reade is at a disadvantage going third, with 13 riders following her and knowing the mark she has set? Well, that is decided by their standing in the rankings calculated by the UCI, the world cycling body. Reade’s injury-interrupted season has seen her slip down the ladder, hence her starting third.”
13:30 – Ed Leigh – She is fit, she has had no injuries this year and she has the power. The big question though is how she will respond to the pressure when racing.”
Come on BBC – Shes either Fit or Injured which is it?Posted 5 years agotheotherjonvSubscriber
one step too far (sadly) for Joe Public judging from my cursory study.
We have a tv in the works canteen and as the office cycling expert (ie the bloke who’s commuted occasionally on a bike) I’ve managed to get the multitude interested by the TdF / road race, and positively enthralled by the track – with several staying on last night to see Vic and Sir Chris.
But the BMX – personally I can see the sublime handling skills and huge sprint abilities, but to the untrained eye it’s just ‘grown ups on kids bikes’ and has elicited more in the way of laughter than support so far.
What will it take for the average watcher to see it as a serious race?Posted 5 years ago
