  • Possibly a stupid headset/crown race question…..

I’ve just ordered some new forks in the sales, and will need to fit to my existing setup (internal headset tapered Niner)…. I need a new crown race so I can swap between forks with minimal faffage. Are all crown races created equal (for a given size) or do I need to worry about things like depth/angle of chamfer?? I presume not as the bearings will have the same point of contact whatever….but then I was getting beardy worrying about gaps and water ingress etc.
Normally I’ve never bothered and just banged anything on, but I thought I’d ask The Collective Wisdom.

There’s quite a variation. Best bet is to get one designed for your specific headset.

I think most headsets come with a suitable one. I seem to remember a thread about this somewhere… 😉

Yep, I just need the race though…..
I never read that other thread – it would have needed some investment of time!

It was an excellent read as I recall – no Picolax, but then what is?
