I’m still a fan of Woody Allen’s much derided “late period” films. Yes, even Match Point and Midnight in Paris. Blue Jasmine and Vicky Christina Barcelona are classics.

I must be one of the few people that actually liked Green Lantern, also quite liked the Total Recall remake.

The David Lynch Dune film. Also, Keanu Reeves’ Jonny Mnemonic. So bad it’s good.

Dune, the only film I have ever fallen asleep whilst watching in a cinema.
I watched it again years later on telly to see if I had missed anything good.

    No, I hadn’t

I did quite like Red Tails even though it was panned by the critics

Not actually a bad film. Scuttled by the pre release hype over the budget

Everyone I know thinks The Lobster was crap. I think it’s one of the best films of the last 10 years or so.

Super Troopers. Dunno if it’s poorly regarded or just rarely watched.

Does “cliffhanger” (sly Stallone) count as ‘poorly-regarded’?

    Alien Resurrection

    Revenge of the Sith

After rewatching Revenge of the Sith a couple of times I think it’s actually a decent enough film in it’s own right. Certainly the best of that particular trilogy, although I know that’s not saying much.

Titan AE. Widely panned and it’s bloody ace. Joss Whedon and Don Bluth, what’s not to love.

    Good thread.

Titan AE was Whedon? I watched that when I was a lot younger, a long time before even knowing or caring who Whedon was, and now you say it just fits!

    Titan AE was Whedon?

Not wholly but yes, he was one of several scriptwriters it went through.

If you don’t recognise Don Bluth, he was the animator behind Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace. Very distinctive style once you spot it.

It’s a poor movie, but having watched it recently it’s way better than I remembered.

Good call on Harold and Kumar. Surprisingly watchable.

Hot Tub Time Machine is fantastic. The second one’s decent “long flight, can’t sleep” fodder.

Iron Sky? Don’t know if it was poorly regarded, actually.
