Looks like you’ve caught it early enough otherwise you’d be in an hospital bed. It can take while to get back to normal

Unlucky, glad I have had my pneumonia jab so I am protected from the bacterial sort! Its not pleasant and will take you some time to recover. Plenty of strawberries is my prescription for aiding fast recovery!

I had that a few years back ended up with a collapsed lung as I left it thinking it was a cold took about 8 weeks to clear off then I struggled to get back to work as I couldn’t get the breathing apparatus working due to low lung function. Still suffer now with chest when I get a cold and I never did before so I put it down to the after effects 🙁

Oh and get well soon mate 😉

Suggsey, the pneumococcal vaccine will only protect you from one particular type of bacterial infection; you can still get others.

ton, it all depends, it can kill healthy people, or OAP lifetime smokers can be back to normal in a month.

I had it a couple of years ago. And the quote from the doctor – “On the bright side, if you were 80 you’d probably be dead now from it by now” 😯

Took me a lot of weeks to recover. Seemed to knock me out for the rest of the year, fitness never recovered for ages.

I had it as a 13 year old; it was minus 4 in my bedroom one winter with damp pouring down the wall behind my bed!

It took me about a month to get better; felt pretty awful throughout.

    HOpe your recovery is swift

does it take long to go?

For me no, but it was the most ‘ill’ I remember being ever

I had it last spring, I was very very ill with it for about 4 days, we thought it was flu (or it could have been that the pneumonia started after flu?)

Then I was off work for a week after that. Main symptoms that week were tiredness and a fever that got worse each day and TOTAL loss of appetite. That was followed by 2 weeks of being ‘weak’, but back at work, I then took some hardcore antibiotics and was much better a week later. .

After that I was up to full fitness in 8 weeks and was the fittest I’ve ever been 3 months after.

Chest x ray showed a big grey cloud over 1 lung at the point 2 weeks in

    Had last year aged 38.

Was initially treated by the GP. Long story short 2 weeks later I ended up in hospital after 4 different courses of antibiotic didn’t work. Had iv drugs, big doses of steroid and eventually after about 4 weeks started clearing up. I was off work for 2 months, lost loads of weight (only benefit) and didn’t get back to normal health for 6 months. Only 1 year and a bit on is my fitness returning a bit on the bike.

Take it easy, do not rush back to work.

Yep, a few years back now. I went from being OK one week to unable to climb a flight of stairs a few days later without nearly passing out halfway up.

And I was told mine was mild 😯

Responded well once I had the antibiotics, Vicks steam inhalation and Lemsip wasn’t shifting it. Still took about 6 weeks before I felt right again.

Take it easy, I didn’t and I’m always at the hospital these days, collapsed tubes in my lung these days. Last week was a trip to the specialist on Monday, x-ray Wednesday and a lung function test on Saturday. Next up will be another year with the respiratory therapist and a bronc, which is like water boarding.

Really don’t push yourself with it! I had it last year and got a collapsed lung as a bonus. Destroyed me for weeks, I honestly thought I was going to die at one point!

Speedy recovery take it easy… really easy!

I lost over a stone last August to a chest virus. Not sure it was/could be? No appetite for 10days at one point!

    Get well ton and rest.

Was hospitalised with double pneumonia and pleurisy a few years back. Was a few months before I felt anywhere near back on form.
