    Lovely kitteh Grumm.

This is a technically imperfect HDR (poorly tone-mapped, weird light strip down the left side despite the 3 images being perfectly aligned) but it’s the first one I’ve done so I’m feeling the glow of satisfaction at learning a new technique.

    Lancaster?

Cheers – yup it is indeed Lancaster – good antique furniture knowledge! 🙂

Is that HDR from one RAW file? Works much better with several exposures ime.

    Naw – 3 jpegs at -1, 0 and +1 EV

Just been reading up on the tone mapping options in PhotoPlus so more experimentation needed.

Depending on how your cam handles the +-1EV adjustment, it may not be a very good method. Some cameras just change the signal amplification for exposure compensation which can cause noise issues. I always do +- 1 shutter speed, or F stop depending on subject matter/focal depth, and if you can work from RAWs.

Cheers Grumm! I got a bit wet taking that first one, and the camera nearly did too… The trouble is getting low down for the best composition isn’t necessarily the best idea when you’re working with the Southern Ocean!

That beach is only 30 mins from me here, and West-facing, so I guess I’ll be back a fair bit. Lots of interesting erratic boulders to investigate, and some great geology just back from the beach – I could be there a lot, if it wasn’t for the snakes :s

I’m annoyed I never really managed to get any decent photos of Lancaster in my time there, but here are a couple of Glasson Dock I think are OK. May have to try harder when we pass through over xmas…

Again, hardly ‘this month’, but here’s the last batch I processed. Looking at those I did take recently on the coast, I guess I must have improved over the last year or so…

Finally picked up the camera today after not taking any photos for a couple of months, wiped the very thick layer of dust off it and took some photos of the cats.

Blimey – there’s some very impressive photographs on this thread. I’m stunned by some of them.

Here’s a picture I took yesterday up at Rivington. I’m not proud of it but it’s interesting in that the “cloud” to the right of Pigeon Tower is in fact steam from the cooling towers at Fiddler’s Ferry in Widnes! That’s quite a distance.

Really love this thread, some great work. I don’t take pictures when I ride really, and when I do, its with my rubbish phone, so they never come out good. However, I took this one on the last day of a dh week in the French/Italian Alps, on the way back to the lodge in the van. Got a nice reflection of the specialized logo off my jersey from the window of the van, I quite like it.

These were taken at the weekends Horwich Humdinger ‘cross 2 in Leverhulme Park, Bolton. Probably the nicest light I have had the pleasure to shoot in for a while.
