Anyone know why there’s (what looks like) a search and rescue helicopter circling over the Pentlands tonight? Training? Looking for someone?

Not sure exactly, but FlightRadar playback shows an AW189 manoeuvring around the Pentlands then landing at the ERI.  Hoping there’s a good outcome for all involved.

I could see it from the house – straight on the front of White Hill. People appeared from the tress and loaded someone (?) then took off heading for what looked like ERi. Came from Ayr from the looks of it

If it’s taken someone from White Hill then most probably a mountain biker. Fingers crossed they’re not too bad. Am guessing you are also Colinton NZCol?

I was up Allermuir today so stormy could hardly stand, no bikes just walking

Not a mountain rescue job so must have be called directly by ambulance
