Saw 4 blokes like this last weekend off WLT on the tame descent down the slabs.

Is it just me or outside of the Alps it looks tragic?

Its the Peaks ffs. Live and let live but what next, full armour?!

Plus unless you are a decent rider, pro boarder or base jumper why the **** would you want to go pro? Do you speed up your vids in post-production?…. 😉

    Shush there angry little man…

    Peaks:

Which Peaks, were they big mountains? Were they steep ones? Was it a nice holiday.

Or so you mean the Peak? It’s simple there are 2 of them so it’s the Peak.

Oh an FFS concentrate on what you are doing.

    Who cares?

There’s no law against full faces and filming your rides. I don’t do it, but of others want to let them.

Bet they were fashion bikers on Santa Cruz or Banshee Enduro bikes.

Nearly as bad as mincing around the Surrey hills on a Rocky Mountain RM9, calling yourself a ‘downhiller’ and refusing to even roll down anything steep.
Who would do such a thing? 🙄

Hang on a minute. I remember meeting you for a pint in the Marble, and feeling decidedly under-biked, and non-GGGGGNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR on my single speed, as you were on one of these…..

There isn’t even a bloody slight incline for 15 miles!! 😆

Mountain bikers, such an inclusive and tolerant community. Out of interest, what are the precise rules around the wearing of full face helmets – I recently wore one at Cwmncarn, on the DH trail on a Santa Cruz (!!!), but I’ve also ridding the Mega course without one. No doubt I’ve committed at least one faux pas there?

If the OP does have a point it’s probably that it does increase the likelihood of objections from rambly types, which is never a good thing.

I’ll wear my full face if I’ve not got to pedal up anything.

I’d never get a Go-pro as I just remember stuff (and don’t forget you can remember things to be better than they actually were).

Ermm, no. There are TWO of them so you use a PLURAL word

    2 = Peaks

Or The Peak DISTRICT if you want to be sanctimonious like Hora 😉

Go Pro, the modern day equivalent of boring the sh1t out of friends and families with slide shows. Does anyone seriously rewatch their videos and think anything other than “that looks tame and I look slow”. I do like watching videos that fade out and get cut at obvious dabbing points though.

Still, each to their own, it still isnt a crime.

Ooh can we get into the Peak/Peaks/Paecs/peaks argument again?

alternatively, you can watch hora using his nipples to scratch in a hip hop stylee

It is the Peak- the name refers to a tribe of people who lived there in prehistoric times, not to the peaks of mountains, as there are none. Peak is correct.

I was given a gopro last year and it is totally beyond me why I would use it, I am not interested in watching a ride I did two years ago with it looking like I am doing it at half the speed and on half the gradient I remember.

To be honest good luck to them if I wear FF I’m usually planning on either traveling extremely fast so trying something new, not trying to impress anyone else TBH just keeping my good looks LOL.

With regard to Gopro guilty here as well but I prefer it to stopping and taking stills for keeping great memories of cracking rides. Also using Gopro is great for when we want to ride a route again to see whether we can make time up , avoid things that slowed us down last time etc.. Starts as a good reference for improving a ride we have done before. 😀

the Pecsaetan or peaklanders, an Anglo-Saxon tribe

As long as no-one forces me to watch their Go-Pro videos, and as long as there is enough space on the internet for them, people can film whatever they wish as far as I’m concerned.

As soon as I have to watch one I become quite murderous, but that’s rarely a problem.

    🙂

Someone linked a Cavedale/Peaks compilation go-pro vid on facebook. Mrshora must have been watching me as she said I started frowning, then looking angry. It was seriously dull. I’m sure most go pro vids are speeded up as many look un-natural. I remember one ride we did/linked up on here (until removed as it was full of cheeky)- I remember the ride being fun, most of the footage could have been anyone. Just couldn’t identify with it.

I have taken my go-pro on precicely one ride, and broke my arm. Since then it’s been in it’s box, clearly bad Ju-Ju.

The first thing I’d do if I owned a go-pro would be to use it in the bedroom, doesn’t anyone use their go-pro for home porn movies?

It is the Peak- the name refers to a tribe of people who lived there in prehistoric times, not to the peaks of mountains, as there are none. Peak is correct.

    Language is correct through usage.
If 90%* of people call it ‘The Peaks’ and if the Peak District National Park use both The Peak and The Peaks then ‘The Peaks’ is not incorrect.
