My Sony Vaio has lost its sound – I did drop it once. Under control panel there is no sound output device listed. Headphones don’t work either.

Curiously, when booting up and I do get the Intel ditty, and a ‘welcome to new hardware wizard’ window which leads nowhere though.

    Is this fixable?

When anything ever goes wrong with my PC I always try to restore windows to the last date I knew it was working – seems to resolve most problems. It maybe that you’ve inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.

Or you could try re-installing the sound drivers ?

Have you had a look about in control panel/sounds and audio devices?

Have a look in device manager as well, have you ever installed sound drivers?

Sounds more like a hardware problem than a software one so system restore wont do owt.
