  • Patio/Driveway- how much should it cost ?

    Morning all,

We have an area at the end of our drive which we would like to get paved to store our motorbikes on.

The space is a square and is about 3m * 3m. It is flat and clear, and drains well.

How much should it cost to get this paved- simple slabs would be fine?

We have been quoted £1k. It seems a lot for a smallish area.

    Any thoughts? Recommendations? Surrey area.

Depends a lot on existing surface and how much prep would be required.

Thoughts – you may need to get planning permission to put a non-permeable barrier over the existing surface (and have suitable drainage added to whatever you add).

Add up the costs of materials (I assume a reasonable depth of footing is required due to weight of bikes on kick stands etc) and then add 2 days labout for 2 blokes plus removal costs of materials dug out (skip will be £150 plus I’d imagine).

Cheers chaps. Quote seems quite reasonable then I guess.

I don’t see we would need planning permission. We already have a drive- this is a square of land at the side of the house. We are effectively making the drive a little longer, but behind a fence.

    Planning permission to lay slabs?
