Octupus Energy are running a cool (to me anyway) electricity demand management trial on Sunday 24th May.
Due to anticipated low demand you can get paid to use electricity so that the wind turbines do not have to disconnect.

This may not be applicable to most who are not Octopus customers however I thought that it is cool and should be publicised. Maybe a taster for more demand management in the future.

If anyone fancies switching to Octopus to take part next time I can refer you so you will gain a little bill credit.

Hmm, it doesn’t appear to say how much you will get paid, nor how many the ‘limited numbers of customers applies to.

EDF are being paid to keep one of the Sizewell turbines offline.

But yeah, this is the future insofar as we can’t manage storage right now. Once we can stuff will just top up according to requirement.
