- Outland singlespeed conversion – which chain to run?
So I have an old hack from ebay tat I am planning to do up
I have fitted an Outland singlespeed convertor (17t) to the existing shimano freewheel hub
The chain on the bike is pretty shot
Plan is to run it with the 2nd chainring of the sun tour crank that is currently on there (initially)
Do I need to run a chain tensioner such as the superstar one?
What chain would people recommend?
Thanks

what sort of dropouts does the frame have – if they’re standard geared ones then you’ll need a tensioner unless you’re very lucky with ratios on the gears. Make sure you get one that works with the size of chain you have.
If the chain rings are as worn as the chain then you may have trouble – I’d look ar replacing it, tbh.
