- orange alpine -rockshox monarch plus rc3 or ccdb air ?
Not on an Orange Alpine – but I have just put a Monarch Plus on my NP Mega. Had a couple of different shocks previous to that.
Fox DHX 5 coil – good for descending, not so good for climbing (to be expected really) + heavy.
Original Monarch RT3 – good for climbing + general XC riding – but just did not cut it for hammering down rocky descents.
Monarch Plus is the perfect blend of both the above – it’s light and really copes well all round – esp downhill with a very similar feel to the coil.Posted 5 years ago
only had the 1st 2 by default as they came with the bike when i bought it , i just like changing parts had the double barrel on for 6 month just fancied a change thats all . also had 9 different bikes in 2 years . including 4 dh . and the alpine is the only one i’ve had that i’d keep !Posted 5 years ago
Mojo – did you read the OP’s postings? 😉
Shield wanted something less heavy duty and lighter than the CCDB coil. There’s nothing wrong with trying different shocks if you can or want along with having them tuned for your riding style/needs. I’ve used all the shocks Shield has listed over the years (on different bikes) and as you would expect they all have different characteristics and plus/minus points.
Edited- just seen Shield’s reply above – ha – think you are as bad as me for changing bikes 😉Posted 5 years ago
