  • Open Source Software Other Than MS Word?

Sorry title of the thread is not that clear.

I remember some time ago ago probably before the site got hacked that someone on here was looking for Word Type Software other than MS Word that their kids could use without increasing Bill Gates personal fortune. An open source Word Processing piece of software was suggested on here, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks

its shite. we used to use it at work but had major issues with clients unable to read quotes/documents created in it.

    probably alright for personal use.

Isn’t that just down to saving it in the right format for word or whatever?

i would say so – just set it to save as .doc format as standard – or we just pdf’d everything to clients.

    open office,
star office – open office with support
    google docs

open office can save docs in word compatible format or pdf so no standards issues just user training.
