Do you cast the bronze yourself?

Spin…Sadly I haven’t been able to build my forge yet so no I didn’t cast it. Got it from a foundry near to where I live for a different project and had it lying around for ages. Decided last week that I needed to make something and this is what happened.

That’s really rather lovely, very nice work indeed! I like the zigzag file-work* on the back of the blade.
*i guess it’s cast in, but looks like file work.

It reminds me of the knives we made in Barrytown NZ.
It’s quite a satisfying thing to craft!

Thanks for the comments. I find great satisfaction in making stuff like . CZ it IS file work. I am hoping to do the bronze casting day at butser farm this year anf maybe also the sword casting day too.
Edit…. Ninfan thanks, thats my ideal shape for a blade. noone else seems to make them like that

I love looking at hand made and custom knifes on British blades and Gear bastion.
What are you going to do about a sheath?

Nice craftsmanship. Prefer more modern hi tech steels and handles ( big Ti fan!) but i have to admire your handywork there. Loving the file work.

Apologies, but someone was bound to make the comment, and no disrespect to the craftsmanship above, but:

    That’s not a knife, this is a knife….

My fantastic Damascus cooks knife. Not to be shared with family, and certainly not to go near a dishwasher.

I love how Demascus is now the name for anything thats folded more than x times, when in reality no one knows how proper original damascus was made. Died out years ago..

Oh, you’re just showing off with Pere David antler!

I’ve been looking for a good bit of antler to throw on an EKA H8 blade I got cheap, waiting out for a cull buck that means something special to me.

Ive still got most of it left too…. Bloody massive! Wont get it again unfortunately as my friend no longer works at Woburn! Alot of it will eventually end up as scales rather than whole handles.

It is inordinately phallic. Was that intentional?

Nope… Just the way it grew. would have had another nodule where the bronze stud is but that was broken and had to be removed. So its only a little horny 😉
