I have one free day in Melbourne, Australia. I’m staying in the CBD next to the MCG. Apart from just stroll around sightseeing, is there anything I should do/must see while I’m there?

I’ve ruled out the Neighbours tour. Not running on that day 🙁

    Cheers,

    Paul

Depends on the weather really. But it is Melbourne so you won’t know what the weather is going to be like until it is happening.

    Get out of Melbourne?

Walk across the Yarra? (Looks solid enough)

(Based on one day there many years ago. 🙂 )

Art Gallery? Grab a beer in the Esplanade Hotel, St Kilda?

I did this last year. I got a day pass for the Melbourne Bike Share ($3) and spent the morning / early afternoon looking at central sights, had lunch by the river, then went to a match at the MCG in the afternoon. Was a nice day.

Don’t try and see too much specific stuff. Maybe aim for one or two sights then pick an area to stroll and enjoy.

Hire a bike and tootle down to St Kilda for coffee and cake. Wish I still lived there.

    Steak at San Telmo!
Mooch around The Lanes for brekker (go early!) I quite like Caffe e Torte on Little Collins Street.
