I once watched a Kiwi try to light a BBQ in a pub beer garden with a pint glass of petrol (he’d been warned not to but said he’d done it before and couldn’t be prevented from doing it). I saw it coming so moved a couple of tables back. Pint-glass upended onto already lit BBQ, 10-foot fireball, hedge and fence ablaze, BBQ not doing any better than before. Bloke was lucky to escape injury tbh.

Thing is, it’s all about timing- if they’d done this at 3am at the reading festival, nobody would have batted an eyelid. After a while maybe someone’d come by and throw on some more gas cans.
