Got a container of mixed olives and feta in oil and herbs.
Use by date is 3rd Jan 2018.

Will they be okay to eat or will I be consumed by the wrath and rapture of a Greek curse?

I’ve been given a bottle of Tio Pepe and am thinking nom and slurp for this evening.

probably, but use your eyes and nose and see and smell them first.

The oil should stop bacteria getting to them, that’s kind of the point of it.

Use by or best before? Either way I’m sure it’ll be fine if it’s in as sealed pack.

    This

Although I doubt I would even check – nothing in there is going to kill you. Probably.

Stuff sealed and preserved in oil will likely keep for years. I thought Feta might be quite short life (mozzarella definitely doesn’t keep that long) but the packets in our fridge had many months of code on them last time I looked.

As an aside, liberated an unopened jar of Ms HS Ball’s peach chutney from my mums garage last time we visited which went out of code in June 1998. Haven’t opened it yet but I’m sure it will be fine.
