Anyone know a site where you can view older OS maps online?

Trying to find a street map of my home town from the 70s-80s.

What’s the postcode? I’ll see if it is on historic digimap.

Actually something local libraries do better than the internet

    DN22 6AA

Reason.. I’m trying to produce an overlay of previously industrial land that is now residential.

I think you can do it on the OS website. Wheresthepath also has an option for older maps. You might struggle with 80s/90s online, though.

The benefits of working at a uni is we have acess to all kinds of stuff not widely available.

    😳

Feel guilty asking.. but would it be possible to get a wider view of the whole town?

All the industrial works were around the edge of town and are missing.

    Sorry 😳

Edit: just the 70s will do. 🙂

Looks like you’ve got what you need, but if you want a quick comparison of places between ’86 and last year look at:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday

It has sections of OS maps as well as some photos and comments etc.

I love old maps of places I know. Mrs Grips knows this and one birthday I ended up with a random collection of maps dating back to the 40s, presumably from a house clearout. Some guy’s family holidays, adventures, trips to see lovers, all bundled up for £5.

The National Library of Scotland website is very good for this (it also includes some maps of England / Wales etc). http://maps.nls.uk/geo/find/

I’m currently scanning in aerial photos of the town where i live from 1962 that were just found at work. Could spend hours looking over them

I think we have about 75% of England in 70-early 80s OS maps but unfortunately not Retford. I can not let them go but not much use now as so much has changed : (

Sorry for the delay. The quality isn’t as good because it is another screenshot.
