I’ve just found some old Maxxis Minion DHF Super Tacky tires (dual-ply) in the back of my cupboard that must be 5-6 years old.

I haven’t used them for a while because I use something a bit lighter for UK riding. However, I am heading to Whistler in July, and I was thinking of resurrecting them for the trip as I got a few punctures last year with my Spesh Clutch SXs.

The questions is: Do tyres like that go off? They still have enough tread on them.

Supertackies can- it seems to be a pretty volatile rubber. But equally, they might be absolutely fine. Excuse for a testride, I reckon!

I’ve been away with someone who did similar and lost a load of knobbles in a few runs.

doesn’t really matter if they’re a bit ‘off’ as you’ll probably wear out those supertackies in a week of bike park regardless 😉
