Obviously after a change of tyres, are the limitations going to be wheel and fork strengths? Oh, and geometry I guess… I may be buying one with Juicy 3's and an Alfine hub, so for those dry dusty (ahem) summer commute via the hills it might be an option?

    I have one kit.

They are more solid than many MTB's and the ride is *ahem* firm.

It will off road no problem. Watch the steering though. Like Ron Burgundys guns, it will get ya!

the bad boys are pretty much the same as cannondale hard tails with 700c wheels.
my mates black f3000 looked exactly like a bad boy when fitted with slicks

The fork's going to be fine for strength isn't it? It will rattle your teeth out riding a rigid BB off road but it'll go like shiat of a shovel. The rigid lefty is extremely cool if you can get that model. You could get one with a headshok but it might be a bit superfluous on the road.

I was all set up to get one earlier this year but couldn't sort it out for a child seat. Disappointing, because it is an awesome bike.
