I’ve been offered a pair of Fox Talas R 2008’s for a really low price, however they are OEM forks taken off a brand new bike. Is there any thing different between them and a normal set which would reduce their value as they’ve been offered at half the rrp!

there is most likely no warranty on them as they are 2nd hand so that knocks a fair chunk off the rrp.

there may be differences to the spec from the retail model too

They normally have less travel or lower spec internals

the warranty will be different/non existent, travel may be customised to suit particular bike, but internals will be as boxed original. Sounds like a good deal to me

They should still have a warranty with the shop selling them, not the manufacturer & the internals may differ, they may not. No shock pump with OEM forks. I’d not hesitate to buy OEM forks, I’ve bought plenty of OEM stuff in the past with no problems.

If they are from a shop then you still get your rights under the sale of goods act. Not a warranty unless its at the manufacturers discretion
