I want to get some solid wood flooring for the living room

Been to all the usual suspects (B&Q, Wickes etc) and the choice seem to be oak or bamboo

    Anyone any experience of either?

I’ve got solid oak flooring and bamboo worktops.
The oak has been awesome and still looks great.
The bamboo is now ready for some tlc after 6 years in the kitchen but has had some serious hammer.

I have bamboo in my home office (chair rolls across it a treat) and my parents have oak flooring in their dining room. Both appear to be pretty durable though not impervious to marking. I’d pick whichever you prefer the look of.

To me, oak has a more traditional feel to it whereas all the bamboo flooring I have seen looks more modern and stylish. Go with what you like and what suits the room/house I guess.
