Looking to buy a Nukeproof Reactor 290. The Nukeproof size chart “just” puts me on a size large, but I’m not too convinced and wonder if I should be an XL would be a better fit:

    6:2ft (189cm)
    82kgs
    33inch inside leg

For trail centres and general XC riding.

    thanks:

I am on the border between M and L, I bought a L. I feel comfy on it, it fits generally, but I’m not sure if it would be better in M or not. Probably not, but I genuinely don’t know!

The stem is 45mm which you can downsize to 35mm if the XL is too big. But honestly it’s a tough question. If you’re near Cardiff you can try my L.

However, I have a 32 or 33 inside leg and only about 1 or 2cm of seatpost showing above the collar so you may run into issues there on an XL.

I’m 183cm, 34″ inside leg on a Large and am really happy with it.

The XL is quite a size jump – much longer and less stand over.  I think there’s some data entry issues on the current size charts as they list the seat tube length as 42cm across the size range, which I don’t believe is correct.  It used to be 42, 45.8, 50.8.  That’s a long seat tube on the XL so be mindful of dropper length with your inside leg – might be a bit too big with the standard 170mm dropper.

My gut feel is you might be better off on the L

I’m your height with 34″ leg on an XL Reactor, previous bikes I’ve always felt ‘could be a bit longer’ this is the first one I’ve thought ‘yeah long enough’ don’t know if that helps! One thing I’d say though is I can only just squeeze in a 180mm BrandX dropper so getting same / bigger drop might be difficult.

I saw an XL in a shop and it looked like there’s a lot more seat-tube sticking up over the top tube than on mine. So that would limit seatpost insertion.

I went L because I wanted it to be more ‘enduro-ey’ and hence longer. I am not sure it’s that, but it seems to fit me ok.
