That’s been the case for 40 years. Some people like that. Some people don’t. See also pretty much every other film franchise or long running TV show, bands, authors etc

I read somewhere that they’ve re-shot scenes with phones as they were product placed and technology had moved on during the delay.

So, am I right in thinking that it’s not actually clear whether Lashana Lynch’s character is actually 007?

I mean in the trailers, M’s line is “Where’s 007?” and the next shot is her, so we’re invited to make the connection but we don’t know what the answer to his question is in the film…And during the conversation between Bond and her character, he asks if she’s now a “00”  and she says “2 years now” but doesn’t say any more than that…

I was only talking about this with The Girl at the weekend. Trying to explain to a 20-something about how cinemas used to stop films halfway through to change the reel, and a woman would come round with a torch and a tray of ice creams. She looked at me like I’d just landed from Jupiter.

I didn’t mention how half the theatre probably had a fag on the go too. I’d likely have seen TILT flash across her retinas.

I think I’ve read somewhere that Bond had retired, she was assigned 007, then he comes back… e.g. from IMBD “His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help…”
