  • New toy
  • Bought it with a business associate to do a job on a solar farm, but looking forward to taking it on some green lanes too – probably not the best tool for green laning, that diff looks a bit exposed, but still…

Looks like a laugh. I really wanted a Jimny for a while but even with my advanced man-logic I couldn’t justify it over a van.

I hope your next post looks like this

Get a couple of bike mounts and that would make a brilliant uplift toy!

Yay, let’s go and smash up some inappropriate tracks for our own immediate gratification and screw everyone else.

That looks great fun, just remember not to give Supernova a lift in it should you see him 🙂

    3 teabags and a 20deck of cigarettes.

The diffs the least of your worries why has the whole thing got so little ground clearance ?

Don’t worry, I live on the edge of the Peak, I won’t be ‘smashing’ anywhere up

Not even seen it yet, the other guy bought it – might be a crock yet. Should be ideal for what we bought it for, don’t know about anything beyond that

This was me ‘not smashing up’ Houndkirk the winter before last

Glad to hear it. Right load of 4X4 bellends on Houndkirk moor on Sunday 🙁

Yeah, heard about them – were they creating their own tracks?

Ground clearance is dictated by the diameter of the tyres, they obviously give the amount of room between the bottom of the diff and the dirt. A Jimny or a Panda 4×4 won’t give a huge amount more. The only other thing is to protect the sump and steering joints.
I doubt any of those little Yamaha 4×4 trucks farmers use across country offer any more ground clearance – if you want more, get something with portal axles, like the ‘Mog in the photo.

That is one hell of a lot of effort to go to just to convert a car that has reasonable load space to one with less load space and no shelter from rain or thieves.

    😂😂😂😂

    Still, it looks like fun.

whats the job it was bought to do that any other decent 4×4 couldnt do?

SOmething to do with driving over really soft ground without getting bogged down?

I’m liking the obligatory man-with-hands-on-hips-looking-intently shots…does he know what it was bought for or is he trying to work out what it was before it got squashed to that size?

Looks like it’ll be a bit of a laugh, based purely on the looks.

This^ I’m intrigued.  Needed to be small or light?

Yes, I was trying to work out what it could do that the vehicle towing it couldn’t do quicker and in more comfort…

But it definitely looks better with that roof spoiler

To answer most of the questions…

Bought for a solar farm that gets very, very muddy

Discovery is feeling the pain of the conditions – copes well, but would rather do the donkey work in a shitbox

Have a little Ifor trailer on the back to lug loads about

Can’t have a quad on site

Gators get shagged very quickly as everyone drives them in 4wd and they don’t have a centre diff

Can be driven further than a Gator on the road

    It’s quite fun

Looks like it’s been built for some specific reason – racing, or just off road smashing

I’m not responsible for the purchase 😂

Until your answer I also couldn’t understand the point… Mind you, I’d still want a go in it!
