Shimano rear mechs came with an so called “bracket axle unit” to adapt to “standard/SRAM derailleur” hangers.
If you had an Shimano derailleur hanger you took this bracket axle unit off (direct mount).
New M7100 1×12 SLX: only “direct mount”. No bracket axle unit any more…

Question: fits the Shimano 1×12 only to Shimano derailleur hangers?

Example bike frame “Ragley Big Al 29”: comes with standard derailleur hanger. Fits SRAM and (older) Shimano rear mechs (when bracket axle unit is used).
New direct mount M7100 1×12 SLX will fit?
    Or not?
    (the frame dealer doesn’t know…)

    Thanks!

The new 12 speed mechsare not DM and fit the standard hanger (ie the hanger type you’d need the bracket axle unit for on a 10/11 speed mech). So it’ll work on all hangers except DM hangers.
