  • New “Enjoy the ride” tagline on magazine wrapper – a bit 90s MBR?

    Hey,

Just got the latest issue of singletrack in the post, and the wrapper had this tagline on it saying “enjoy the ride”…

Anyone else think this is more than a bit naff? And a bit 90’s MBR?  We’re already subscribers, it’s not like you need to tempt us in or anything….  It just feels, well, old fashioned.

Personally I think the “spine line” from that month’s magazine would be better, if they’re going to do something…  Or just don’t?

    Thoughts?

I agree TBH seems a bit Max Power.

Though the wrapper was mostly a soggy mess and 1/2 open due to the weather so I doubt the postie gave it a second glance.

    A blast from the past.
mbr’s “Just get out and ride” was dreamt up by James BC, probably when very very drunk.

    Good times.

Don’t complain you’ll spoil it.  The next issue will hopefully include a review of underarm deodorants and a VHS tape in a cardboard sleeve consisting of low royalty mountain biking clips set to some generic house music…

    🙂

I don’t think the MBR lifestyle product reviews lasted very long editorially but in the first few mags I do remember some odd product stuff dotted around the bikes.  I’m pretty sure I bought some of it based on the reviews in my youth too..

We were basically making a lifestyle magazine for us and our mates. It sold well enough tbh. 88,000 copies for that first issue then settled at 30-40,000.

A lifestyle magazine for us and our mates. Hmm.

Im just hoping there is some mountain biking content in it and its not all about gravel and political correctness.

Those early days of MBR were of their time and I was an avid reader back then but I’d be disappointed to see that ‘lad mag’ style now in a sport publication.  MBR naturally seemed to morph into something much better over time and fair play to @brant and co for getting a magazine that was altogether better than the MBUK of the time out there and going.

The best thing we can possibly have for the future of our sport is great content produced by and featuring not just women but a truly diverse cross section of society.

Sorry slight derailment but after the tongue in cheek comments / comparisons above I really think it’s worth acknowledging how well Singletrack has done to have some great female writers/contributors over quite a long period of time.
